Transportation in Santiago

Public transport

Public transport in Santiago includes various subway and bus lines. It has to be paid with prepaid cards. A one way trip (including line changes) is about 800 CLP (less than 1 USD). You need to top your card before your trip. You can buy a card resp. top your card in any metro station. An overview of the transportation network can be found here.

The metro stations closest to the hotels "Hotel Santiago Park Plaza", "Le Reve Boutique Hotel", and "Mr. Hoteles Providencia" are "Los Leones" and "Pedro de Valdivia", both Line 1.

The metro station closest to the workshop site is "Chile-España" (Line 3). Several bus lines have stops close to the workshop site. You can use the site www.red.cl (Plan a journey) to plan your trip with public transportation. Transportation between a place close to the hotels "Hotel Santiago Park Plaza", "Le Reve Boutique Hotel", and "Mr. Hoteles Providencia" and the workshop location will be provided.

Taxi

There are many taxis in Santiago which have to be paid in cash (local currency). Be aware that most of the drivers do not speak English. You can also use Uber (which requires internet connection).

Transfer from Airport

The international airport of Santiago (Aeropuerto Internacional Arturo Merino Benitez) is about 20km away from the city center. An overview can be found here. There are three main ways of transfer (from and to the airport):

Taxi

The cost of an official taxi transport is between 25000 and 30000 CLP (about 25 to 30 USD). At exiting the customs area there are several taxi booth where you can buy your ticket (credit cards are accepted).

Van

Another possibility are airport vans (Transvip). The cost is around 10000 to 15000 CLP (about 10 to 15 USD). Tickets are bought at a booth close at exiting the customs area (credit cards are accepted).

Bus

Alternatively, you can take a bus which leaves in front of the airport. Buses are operated by Turbus and Centropuerto. The cost is about 2000 to 2500 CLP (about 2 to 3 USD). Usually, one hops off at the metro station "Pajaritos" and from there you can use public transportation to reach your final destination.
